Ordering & Selecting the Options

One of my favourite pastimes is playing around with car configurators—dreaming, tweaking, and perfecting the ideal spec. But when it came time to actually place an order, the stakes felt much higher. Finding the right balance between what you need and what you pay for is no easy feat, especially when every tick-box adds to the total. And let’s be honest, you don’t want to miss out on anything genuinely useful.

Why the Carrera S?

Sure, the standard Carrera is already an exceptional machine. But the S? Well, that’s where things get a bit more exciting. The extra power and bigger brakes make all the difference—not just on paper, but in the way it feels on the road. It’s that sweet spot between performance and daily usability.

The Spec – A Perfect Balance

Personal Taste – Because Looks Matter

  • Exterior: Jet Black Metallic – sleek, timeless, and always clean (at least in theory)… and my personal favourite “Side window trims in aluminium”
  • Interior: Black / Mojave Beige two-tone leather – classy, comfortable, and just the right amount of contrast.
  • Wheels: Carrera Classic – because they just suit the car perfectly.

Performance – Makes It Faster

  • 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) – lightning-fast shifts without losing the thrill.
  • Sport Chrono Package – because you always need a stopwatch for, uh… reasons.
  • Porsche Track Precision App & Tyre Temperature Display – if you’re going to nerd out, do it properly.
  • Rear-Axle Steering – tighter turns, sharper handling, and easier parking (bonus!).

Convenience – Makes Life Easier

  • Electric Folding Exterior Mirrors – handy in tight spots.
  • Front Axle Lift System – because speed bumps are everywhere.
  • LED Main Headlights with PDLS Plus – see and be seen in the best way possible.
  • Auto-Dimming Mirrors & Rain Sensor – a bit of wizardry that just works.
  • Privacy Glass – for that VIP look (or to hide takeaway boxes).
  • ParkAssist including Surround View – making parking stress-free.
  • Lane Change Assist & Adaptive Cruise Control – for effortless motorway cruising.
  • Storage Package – because even a Porsche needs places to stash things.
  • Tyre Sealing Compound & Electric Air Compressor – just in case, though Porsche Roadside Assistance has your back.

Aesthetics & Fun – Because Why Not?

  • Electric Slide/Tilt Glass Sunroof – for that open-air feel without a full cabrio.
  • Side Window Trims in Aluminium – subtle, but it makes a difference.
  • Sports Exhaust System (Silver – Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur) – because it needs to sound as good as it looks.
  • BOSE® Surround Sound System – when the engine note isn’t enough (rare, but it happens).
  • Porsche Crest on Headrests – a small touch that adds a lot.
  • 4-way Electric Sports Plus Seats – supportive yet comfortable, the best of both worlds.
  • Fire Extinguisher – because it looks race-ready and has a retro charm.

The Regrets (or Almosts…)

Things I Wish I Had

  • Homelink – an integrated garage door opener. It seemed unnecessary at the time, but now I realise it would’ve been quite handy.

Things I Could Do Without

  • Light Package – not essential for me.
  • 18-way Sports Seats – the 4-way seats are already spot on.
  • Night Vision Assist – cool tech, but not something I’d use often.

Looking back, I think I got the balance just right—performance, comfort, and a touch of luxury without going overboard. And at the end of the day, isn’t that what makes a Porsche truly special?
